Commemorative hand-carved breadboards and wooden kitchenware

Pub Shed Sign.

Posted on

I was contacted by Charlotte in the Spring and asked if I could create a Pub Shed Sign as a secret present for her Husband. She supplied the artwork.

She liked the idea of a natural edge sign about 12" (30cms) across with black lettering and deep relief carving of the central design. I glued 3 pieces of Oak together to create the blank for the sign, then started  carving it.

This is stage one with the design on the blank.

In stage two I used a Router to remove the central background. The rest of the carving was done by hand using traditional tools and techniques.

Stage two, background routed away.

Ready for painting and oiling, it was fun to do!

"It’s for our house – my husband Ben has turned his shed into a (very basic) pub. It’s a bit of a thing between a few friends, with a record player and bar etc. I thought it would be fun to have a proper sign outside. This is perfect....."

Testimonials
Thank you so much for the Cheeseboard which arrived this morning – well wrapped and protected. We bought it as a wedding present for our daughter, (who has married a Scotsman) and it really is the most delightful gift. We will have every bit as much pleasure in giving it to her as she and her husband will using it for years, and I hope, generations to come. Beautifully carved and finished – you have done a great job. Thank you.
